The 8.4m mirror has now been warmed from room temperature up
to 645 °C. At 16:00 MST today will begin rotation at 6.81 rpm.
At 16:30 MST we will begin the "broiling" phase of heating the
faceplate up to 1180 °C at 200 °C per hour. This will melt the
2.1 tons of E6 glass blocks that we added to the faceplate.
If you are in Tucson, feel free to come down to the Mirror Lab and
watch between now and 22:00 MST. If you aren't in Tucson, you can
watch the oven video images updated about every half hour on the web.
